Helping You Afford a Healthy Smile
Dental insurance is an invaluable tool that helps families fit high-quality dental care into their budgets. Whether you pay for your own insurance, or you’re fortunate enough to have benefits through your employer, your dental coverage makes it easier for you to access the focused services that we provide at our practice. EPO Dental Specialist’s team of experts has extensive experience in handling dental insurance and in helping patients get the most out of their coverage.
How Dental Insurance Works
As long as you and/or your employer keep up with your monthly premium payments, you can expect your insurance to cover a significant portion of your dental care. Most policies offer coverage at the following rates:
- Preventive care: 100% covered
- Minor restorative care: 70% - 80% covered
- Major restorative care – Approximately 50% covered
- Orthodontics – Approximately 50% covered
The Difference Between Dental and Medical Insurance
Dental insurance has a strong focus on preventive care; policy providers encourage their clients to visit their general dentist for regular cleanings and exams so they can prevent the need for more extensive work down the road. However, as already noted, dental insurance does also kick in to help cover the cost of restorative dental procedures.
Medical insurance won’t cover preventive dental care. However, in some cases, it might help you afford the treatment you need in an emergency situation or when you need major dental work. For example, it may cover oral surgery and treatment for traumatic facial injuries.
If you are ever unsure if you should use medical or dental insurance to cover a specific treatment, we’re happy to help you sift through the fine print of your policies and file your claims with the appropriate parties.
In-Network Vs. Out of Network
Whether EPO Dental Specialists is in-network or out of network with your dental insurance provider, we’ll help you understand your policy and the portion of your treatment that you’ll be responsible for paying for. We’ll also file claims for you so you can get the most out of your coverage.
In-Network Coverage
If a dental practice is in-network with your insurance company, that means that they have pre-negotiated fees for specific services. This provides savings to the benefits provider and their policy holders. We’re proud to be in-network with many major insurance companies, including:
- Medicaid
- Chip
- Cigna
- Humana
- Guardian
- Principal
- Ameritas
- Delta Dental
- Metlife
- United Healthcare
- United Concordia
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- And many more, please call out office to understand your coverage
Out of Network
If a practice is out of network with your insurance, they don’t have any formal contract with your benefits provider. However, this doesn’t mean you should stay away from that practice. Out of network dental offices are almost always willing to file claims with any insurance company, regardless of whether they are in that company’s network. You’ll still enjoy reduced costs for the care you need most!
