How to Manage Invisalign During the Holiday Season
December 13, 2022
With the holidays in full swing, you’re likely excited to enjoy all the festivities this season has to offer. Other than spending time with loved ones and buying gifts, you’ll also have plenty of delicious meals to look forward to. That said, if you’re undergoing Invisalign, you may have to take certain steps to avoid running off track from your treatment plan. Keep reading to learn a few tips on how to keep steady progress with your orthodontic process during the holiday season!
Brush & Floss After Every Meal
One of the most important ways to stay on track with your Invisalign treatment is to keep your smile clean throughout the process. Since you won’t have to worry about any dietary restrictions, you’ll be able to munch on all your favorite festive foods. To keep your teeth healthy, it’s best to have a travel-sized dental kit, especially if you’re traveling. This should include a toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste, mini mouthwash, and dental floss. You’ll be able to easily brush, floss, and rinse your teeth after your meals and before wearing your aligners again.
Wear Your Clear Trays for 20-22 Hours Each Day
Invisalign is designed to straighten your smile by applying specific pressure to your teeth through a series of clear aligners. However, for this to work, you’ll need to wear your custom trays for at least 20-22 hours every day. With all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it can be easy to forget to put them back on in time. Try setting an alarm/reminder on your phone to keep track of when you need to put your aligners back on to continue your progress.
Carry Your Storage Case Wherever You Go
When taking off their Invisalign aligners, some people choose to place them on a napkin or tabletop. While this may not seem like a problem, this can also cause you to easily misplace or throw them away on accident. To avoid delaying your treatment plan, be sure to bring your protective storage case with you at all times.
Always Remember to Remove Your Aligners
It can be tempting to simply sip on your favorite hot cocoa while wearing your Invisalign trays. However, you should avoid doing this, as this can damage or warp your aligners and interfere with your process. Make sure to remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than pure water, that way you can stay on track with your orthodontic procedure.
You can enjoy the holiday season while keeping steady progress with your Invisalign treatment plan. Keep the above tips in mind during the festivities, and you’ll be able to show off a perfectly straight smile in no time!
